When "Jersey Shore" residents Ronnie and Vinny paid a visit to "The Seven," on a Halloween-themed episode of the show, they didn't have to look far for costume ideas. The fellas sauntered onto the set as trick-or-treat-ready versions of their roommates DJ Pauly D and Snooki.

Ron rocked a shellacked 'do, black tank top and headphones like record-spinning housemate Pauly, while Vinny squeezed himself into a snug gold halter and donned a high-volume wig like Snooks. When "The Seven" hosts pointed out that Vinny has smushed the real-life version of his Halloween alter ego, the Staten Island native shrugged it off, saying, "I'm pretty hot."
Both guys did admit that it's weird seeing people dressing up as the "Shore" cast for Halloween revelry, and Ronnie told fans they may have more material to draw from when season three hits screens. Ron Ron promised that the next outing will be packed with more madness then ever.
"[It's] everything you got in season one and season two, just more," he said. "More action, more drama. Makeups, breakups, hookups, smush room — everything."
Viewers will have another option for Halloween costumes next year when the newest housemate, Deena, debuts on season three. Vinny and Ron seemed confident that fans will connect with the latest addition to the "Shore" collective.
"She's fun," Vinny said. Ron was more straightforward in his assessment, adding, "[She's] better than Angelina."
Vinny also described how the "Jersey Shore" kids get down on Halloween. "We go trick-or-treating and stuff; Halloween parties." He also revealed one of his favorite parts of the holiday. "I like when the girls wear all these sexy costumes — like this," he quipped, referencing his Snooki-inspired halter dress.
What are you looking forward to from season three of "Jersey Shore"? Let us know in the comments!
Don't miss "The Seven" every weekday at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.

Jon Stewart Speech Closes 'Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear'

Comedian tells fans rally was about working together, not 'ridicule.'By Mawuse Ziegbe

Jon Stewart speaks at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear"

Photo: Win McNamee/Getty Images

Jon Stewart's "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" Saturday (October 30) was a smorgasbord of the satire and send-ups of pundits, politicians and public issues Stewart's "The Daily Show" has specialized in for years. However, at the end of the three-hour event at the National Mall in Washington DC, Stewart used that same incisive humor to drive home the point that Americans aren't as crazy as the media would have us believe, and that the everyday triumphs that don't make the news are truly representative of the American people.

Stewart kicked off speech by addressing the question that was likely on many attendees and viewers minds: What exactly was the point of the rally? Stewart ventured to answer the question, suggesting, "Some of you may have seen today as a clarion call for action." He also considered the possibility of wayward tourists getting caught in fray, joking, "Clearly some of you just wanted to see the Air and Space Museum and just got royally
screwed."
Then Stewart broke down the intentions of the rally, which he maintained was not simply about poking fun.
"This was not a rally to ridicule people of faith, or people of activism, or to look down our noses at the heartland or passionate argument, or to suggest that times are not difficult and that we have nothing to fear. They are and we do. But we live now in hard times, not end times," Stewart declared, to the roar of thousands of attendees swarming the site.
He went on to examine the role of the press in exacerbating conflict among Americans.
"The country's 24-hour, political pundit, perpetual, panic conflict-inator did not cause our problems. But its existence makes solving them that much harder," he said. "If we amplify everything, we hear nothing."
Stewart cautioned listeners about buying into propaganda that may obscure the real issues citizens should be tackling.
"Not being able to distinguish between real racists and Tea Party-ers, or real bigots and Juan Williams or Rick Sanchez, is an insult, not only to those people, but to the racists themselves who have put in the exhausting effort it takes to hate," Stewart said, referencing former CNN anchor Sanchez, who was booted from the network for his unsavory comments about Stewart and other Jewish Americans. "Just as the inability to distinguish terrorists from Muslims makes us less safe, not more."
Stewart maintained he feels "strangely, calmly good" because he doesn't take media portrayals at face value. Yet, he conceded he understands how certain representations can hinder honest, straightforward dialogue about significant issues.
"The image of Americans that is reflected back to us by our political and media process is false. It is us through a funhouse mirror ... the kind where you have a giant forehead and an ass shaped like a month-old pumpkin," he said. "Why would you reach across the aisle to a pumpkin-assed, forehead eyeball monster?"
Stewart said he knows that most people reach across the aisle when it matters, saying, "We work together to get things done every damn day! The only place we don't is here [points to Capitol Building] or on cable TV."
"Most Americans don't live their lives solely as Democrats, Republicans, liberals or conservatives. Americans live their lives more as people that are just a little bit late for something they have to do. Often something they do not want to do. But they do it. Impossible things [are accomplished] every day that are only made possible through the little reasonable compromises we all make," he said.
Referencing a screen playing footage of cars slowly inching through traffic, Stewart used the image of the highway as metaphor for how Americans make those compromises, ceding the road when necessary and recognizing that everyone is headed toward a similar goal. He also touched on the diversity of drivers on the road, noting that the cars could be steered by anyone from a mom with two kids to a "Mormon Jay-Z fan."
While Stewart opened his speech outlining the messages he wanted to relay through the rally, he closed by explaining what the event meant to him.
"Sanity has always been in the eye of the beholder," he said, "And to see you here today, and the kind of people that you are, has restored mine."

Britney Spears Tweets About 'Glee' Tribute Episode

'I loved it!' writes the pop star, who also thanked fans and shared her thoughts on the show's covers.By James Dinh

Britney Spears and Heather Morris on the set of "Glee"

Britney Spears fans are a force to be reckoned with. Earlier this year, they campaigned for an episode of "Glee" to be dedicated solely to their favorite pop princess. And after much anticipation, on Tuesday night the students of McKinley High shimmied, crooned and danced their way in tribute to the entertainer. The singer took to Twitter to thank her fans for their efforts and shared her thoughts on the program, titled "Britney/Brittany," and its covers of her songs.

"I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!" Britney tweeted. In particular, the star seemed to enjoy the renditions of her classic tunes, saying, "I love this version of Stronger. Artie did a great job," and "The GLEE version of Toxic is amazing!"
While some of the McKinley High students — including Cheerio cheerleader Brittany S. Pearce (played by Heather Morris) — went into anesthesia--induced dream sequences to channel their inner Britney, Spears herself emerged throughout the episode's hallucinogenic fantasies. Appearing as Madonna's character at the end of "Me Against the Music," a high-school teacher in "... Baby One More Time" and a fellow cheerleader, the singer remained a source of inspiration for the Gleekers.
Spears gave kudos to co-star Morris, saying, "Awww Heather Morris is sooo cute! Brittany S Pearce. Ha! She was so fun to work with and was really sweet in person."
The singer not only applauded Morris' friendliness, but also her rendition of "I'm a Slave 4 U." She wrote of the sultry production, "Slave: Oh ... My ... God ...! Those little boys are SO cute! I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job." The pop star also was surprised at how well the show re-created the music video set of her 2003 Madonna duet, "Me Against the Music," pointing out that it "looks just like the original," and adding, "Santana does a great Madonna impression."
As the students walked Spears through memory lane, Lea Michele's cover of "... Baby One More Time" also had the singer reminiscing. "Watching Baby brings back so many memories! Feels like yesterday," she explained.
John Stamos also made a guest appearance in the episode, as the dentist who sends the Gleeks into Britney world. Spears made it clear that the 47-year-old actor looks as good as he did during his heyday. "John Stamos is still hot! He looks the same as he did on Full House," she tweeted.
As with many "Glee" fans, Britney found a pleasantly odd interest in Jane Lynch, who plays the aggressive cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, describing the actress as "hilarious and scary all rolled into one."
Spears wasn't the only one who enjoyed filming the tribute episode — the "Glee" castmembers recently dished on working with the star. Morris told Australian magazine TV Week that the singer was her childhood inspiration. "She was my idol from, like, age 12 to 16," she said. "I sang to her [songs] in my living room and danced to her — I learned all her moves. And I had my talent shows and I lip-synched to her. I just kept flashing back to growing up and being obsessed with her."
Naya Rivera, who plays Santana, also spoke highly of the pop icon. "I love Britney Spears. I mean, who doesn't? We all grew up with her," she proclaimed in a promo video for the show. "The first music purchase I ever made was '... Baby One More Time' on cassette. [It was like], 'Britney Spears is going to be in my mitts, what do I do?' [And I was like], 'Hi Britney!' And then she was like, 'Hey!' She was awesome and beautiful. She was, like, magical."

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert Just Wanted Rally To Be 'A Really Good Show'

'We do television shows for people who like them,' Stewart says at post-rally press conference.By Tami Katzoff

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A few hours after gathering with an estimated 250,000 friends on the National Mall for the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear," Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert appeared at a press conference at the National Press Club.
The two Comedy Central personalities were clearly happy with the day's event and appreciative of those who helped make it happen.
"Our currency is not this town's currency," Stewart said. "We're not running for anything. We don't have a constituency. We do television shows for people who like them. ... And we wanted to do a really good show for people that took the time to come out and see us, and I feel like we accomplished it."
Stewart and Colbert were also genuinely moved by the audience's response. Colbert said that for him, "one of the greatest surprises was the joy of seeing the audience out there, how many people came." And Stewart sensed that the crowd "was so wonderfully supportive of everything that happened."
Though the tone of the press conference was generally light (Colbert mock-chided Arianna Huffington, who bussed in 10,000 people from New York to D.C., for not driving any of the 200 buses herself), there were some less-than-humorous moments as well. When asked about how the media might scrutinize the rally in the days ahead, Stewart said he just didn't care.
"We're proud of ourselves, we're proud of the show we did, and for us the success of it was the execution of the idea and the intention," Stewart said. "You can't control people's reaction to it."

Liam Neeson Brings 'Gravity' To 'Hangover 2,' Director Says

Plus: 'Hangover' breakout star Ken Jeong is 'just happy' he's involved in the sequel.By Kara Warner

With all the talk surrounding "Hangover 2" — specifically Mel Gibson's heavily hyped cameo being scrapped/ switched to Liam Neeson due to alleged disgruntled reactions from Zach Galifianakis and the rest of the cast — what we're really missing are details about the plot.

Here's what we know so far: The film is being shot in L.A. and Thailand, with the boys (Bradley Cooper, Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha) headed to the Far East on some sort of all-dude excursion.
When we caught up with director Todd Phillips and breakout star Ken Jeong at the premiere of "Due Date," we asked them for a few sequel teases. What takes the boys to Thailand?
"A plane," Phillips answered cheekily, indicating he wouldn't be divulging any secrets at all.
And how did Phillips choose Neeson for the cameo? "There's a lot of people [we considered]," he said. "He has gravity. Liam brings a sense of gravity. But, you know, it's a cameo, and we don't like to talk about it, because it's [supposed to be] a surprise and now it's ... I don't like to justify it."
As for Jeong, we tried our best to find out what his zany character might be up to as well.
"No comment!" he exclaimed. "I'm just happy that I'm in it. For me, this is not predestined to happen so I'm just so happy I'm involved in any moment. Anything Todd asked me to do, I would do. Anything."
What do you think of all the "Hangover 2" talk? Will it be as good as the first film? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Unreleased Michael Jackson Music On The Way, Rodney Jerkins Says

'It's definitely going to come, but it takes time,' says producer, who worked with King of Pop on Invincible.By James Dinh

Michael Jackson had a wealth of unreleased songs in the vaults at the time of his death last year, but very little has since seen the light of day. Producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who worked with the King of Pop on his 2001 album Invincible, revealed that he is about to work on a project with unreleased material from Jackson.
"I'm about to work on an unreleased project that we're talking about doing right now," Darkchild revealed in a chat with VladTV. "It's definitely going to come, but it takes time. You got to do a lot of the red tape but there's definitely going to be an unreleased Michael Jackson [album]. There's definitely going to be stuff to come and hopefully I'll be a part of that."
Darkchild later spoke about how working with the entertainer had always been a childhood dream of his.
"It was a blessing. It was definitely a goal of mine as a kid. When I first wanted to be producer, at 11 years old, on a little piece of paper [I] was like, 'One day I wanna work with Michael Jackson.' I just believe that God granted my wish," he said. "I had the chance to work with him. We became friends. Of course, we miss him dearly. He was truly the greatest."
Last year, former Sony Music boss Tommy Mottola revealed to Time magazine that unpublished Jackson music could date back decades. "Let's say 12 or 13 songs end up on the album; Michael could have possibly recorded 15, 20 or 30 songs," Mottola explained. "This would probably go for every album he recorded and probably predating [Sony] to his Motown days."
Jackson was reportedly working on a comeback album at the time of his death with contemporary R&B producers like Akon, Ne-Yo and Will.I.Am. He was also in talks to hit the studio with everybody from Kanye West to T-Pain to Chris Brown.
Based on a recent report from Reuters, more music from Jackson would only further increase music sales for the singer. The entertainer's music has raked in $430 million in sales since June 2009.
An album wasn't the only unfinished project Jackson had on his plate at the time of his death last June. The King of Pop had asked then-newcomer Lady Gaga to open his This Is It shows in London. "I guess I can speak about it now. I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour. We were going to open for him at the O2," she revealed earlier this year.

Usher Remembers Being A 'Pizza Face' On 'When I Was 17'

'I had really, really bad acne ' he admits in Saturday's episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe

Usher on "When I Was 17"

Photo: MTV News

He's known as one of the smoothest R&B sensations to grace the stage, but when Usher was 17, he grappled with a far less flattering image.
"I went through this phase where I had really, really bad acne," the singer admits on the latest episode of "When I Was 17," premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. Usher, who was 17 in 1995, reveals with a grin that his nickname was "Pizza Face."

"His acne was so horrible," recalled one of Usher's more blunt friends, Keith. "His face was so jacked up."
Music mogul and producer Jermaine Dupri remembered how the entertainer's spotty complexion led him to shy away from the spotlight.
"He didn't want to go out. He wanted to stay in," Dupri says. "He was a little ashamed of what was going on with his face."
The singer went to extreme, and ultimately unsuccessful, lengths to disguise his breakouts.
"As a dude, you're not gonna put makeup on your face, right?" Usher said. "I tried that, it didn't even work."
He may have experimented with cosmetics and spent a few more nights at home but the multiplatinum star didn't let his acne hold him back from wooing the ladies. "I was 17, so I would still try to talk to girls [and] get past it," Usher reasoned.
He even had some smooth lines to drop when he wanted to draw attention away from his skin. " 'Don't look at that, look at my eyes, baby. I'm trying to say something real serious to you right here,' " Usher recalled, reenacting his complexion-deflecting dating moves. "I know I have pizza face, I don't care."
In the end, his skin cleared up and the singer said it was just a matter of riding out a rite passage that many teens are forced to endure.
"This is something that all 17-year-olds have to deal with," Usher said. "You can't run away from it."
— this week featuring B.o.B, Usher and Ne-Yo — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV

Kanye West Explains Michael Jackson 'Runaway' Scene

MC says he used King of Pop's likeness to represent cult mentality.By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Photo: Def Jam

In a production wrought with powerful imagery, the Michael Jackson procession scene in Kanye West's film debut, "Runaway," is among the most impactful and intriguing.

Around seven minutes into the movie, which centers on the ill-fated romance between West's character, Griffin, and a phoenix played by Selita Ebanks, fireworks herald a parade of a crimson-clad marching band flanked by a mob of followers sporting pointed hoods reminiscent of the garb worn by the Ku Klux Klan. The band surrounds a larger-than-life illuminated bust of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, while Griffin and the phoenix excitedly look on.
When West sat down with MTV News' Sway for a live Q&A session that followed the film's premiere Saturday (October 23) on MTV, he explained that he juxtaposed Jackson's likeness with the hooded marchers to make a comment about the potent pull of cult mentality.
"The hood, what it does represent to me ... in relation to the Michael Jackson thing is not the KKK but the concept of cult, because it's multiple people with this hood on," West explained. "It's me taking [the phoenix] to my world and saying, 'Let me show you what my world is about.' "
West said he invoked the image of the late icon, whose expansive cultural reach was unparalleled, to demonstrate the energy of the pop realm.
"The greatest, biggest pop-cultural figure of all time, arguably bigger than Jesus Christ, is Michael Jackson. You have the band in front of him, marching ... and you have the cult around it," West said, before explaining the scene that precedes the procession, of a young boy in mid-sprint brandishing a flaming baton.
"If you saw the kid in the beginning, he's running and running at top speed holding his torch, and his torch represents his thoughts and ideals. At the end, after he's been cultivated, he has the hood on now and he's walking extremely slow. That's basically how people think," West said. "It's the way society has set people up to be able to control them, slave mentalities."
Yeezy added that coaxing people into social conformity is an effective form of control — assuming the followers don't decide to break away on their own trails.
"[By] just creating this mentality by cultivating the ideals ... you could just make people just stand in their own mental jails," he said. "What happens when someone isn't in a mental jail?"
What do you think of Kanye's explanation of the Michael Jackson "Runaway" scene? Sound off in the comments!

Can you make out Billie's personalized booties (click through the pictures below for a better look)? Too cute :) It looks like Rebecca is focused on being a full-time mom while Eric Dane is still busy with 'Grey's Anatomy.' As you other stay-at-home moms know, getting out is so important!

Beyonce Says She's 'A Feminist, In A Way'

Singer also talks about retiring alter ego Sasha Fierce and starting a family, in You magazine.By James Dinh

Beyoncé

Photo: Michael Caulfield/ Getty Images

Whether it's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" or the Destiny's Child classic "Independent Women," most of Beyoncé's catalog consists of strong female-empowerment anthems. So it's no surprise that the singer considers herself to be a feminist.
In an interview with the U.K.'s You magazine, the pop star opens up about the importance of female companionship, not needing to hide behind Sasha Fierce and her much-talked-about baby plans.
"I think I am a feminist, in a way. It's not something I consciously decided I was going to be; perhaps it's because I grew up in a singing group with other women, and that was so helpful to me," she told the magazine. "It kept me out of so much trouble and out of bad relationships. My friendships with my girls are just so much a part of me that there are things I am never going to do that would upset that bond. I never want to betray that friendship, because I love being a woman and I love being a friend to other women."
Most recently, Beyoncé has certainly made her share of female friends in the industry. In the past year, the singer has collaborated with Lady Gaga ("Video Phone" and "Telephone") and Alicia Keys ("Put It in a Love Song").
While the singer might always have female besties, there's one thing she's cut out of the picture: alter ego Sasha Fierce. Earlier this year, the pop star revealed that she "killed" Sasha, and now she said the alter-ego absence is due to her newfound self-awareness.
"I don't need Sasha so much anymore, because these days, I know who I am. It takes time to figure out who you are, and I am still discovering different things about myself. As I am exposed to different experiences, I think, 'Oh, I like this. I didn't know I liked this,' " she explained. "That's the journey of life that is so exciting. More and more, I know who I am, I know what I like, I know what I want, and that makes me feel so free."
In fact, B already has her eye on some personal life goals. "My ambition is to continue to learn about the world and to eventually have a family," she said. And while Beyoncé remained coy about when she and husband Jay-Z will expand the Carter family, she hinted that there's really "no dates, no times" to motherhood. "It will happen when I am ready."

Drake is just one nom behind the pace-setters. The Toronto lyricist scored nods in three categories: Best Hip Hop Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
Nicki Minaj, Ne-Yo, B.o.B Erykah Badu, Monica, Sade and Fantasia are among the other big nominees, each scoring two nods apiece. This year's Legends Awards recipients are veteran singers Ron Isley and Anita Baker.

Lady Gaga Not Appearing On Rihanna's Loud

Rihanna's rep says, rumors of the two collaborating on a song called 'Broken Heels' are 'not true.'By James Montgomery

Lady Gaga

Photo: Getty Images

Sad news for anyone eager to hear that rumored Rihanna/Lady Gaga collaboration: It's not happening.
That's according to a rep for RiRi, who told MTV News on Friday (October 15) that a story about a team-up between the two artists — reportedly on a song called "Broken Heels" — was "not true."
Earlier this week, reports began circulating that the two talents — who, between them, have more #1s on Billboard's Pop Chart than any other artist — would be joining forces on "Heels," which was set to be featured on Rihanna's forthcoming album Loud. The source for those reports was an alleged scan of the album's back cover, which listed the song as "featuring Lady Gaga."
The rep didn't say anything about that image to MTV, but Just Jared quotes a rep for Rihanna as saying that it's a fake. A spokesperson for Rihanna's label, Island/Def Jam, did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter.
Loud is scheduled to hit stores on November 16, and it does feature confirmed guest appearances from Drake (on a remix of "What's My Name?") and Nicki Minaj (on a "fun ... quirky" song called "Raining Men"). On Wednesday (October 13), Rihanna premiered the video for "Only Girl (in the World)," the official first single from the album. "Only Girl" is in its fifth week on the Billboard Hot 100, where it sits at #6.

Phuket FC football: Chumps to champs in a year?

Phuket FC did not make the most auspicious of starts in the lowest tier of professional Thai football. Formed only weeks before the start of the 2009 Division Two (Southern Section) season and managed by a local politician, the team unsurprisingly failed to thrive.

Despite a succession of managerial changes and a mid-season makeover that saw virtually the entire playing squad overhauled, the side still finished bottom of the division. Attendance at the Surakul Stadium was extremely poor and Phuket FC failed to record a single home win in front of this small handful of supporters.read more

Lady Gaga's Sexual-Harassment PSA Surfaces

A young Stefani Germanotta plays a harassed teen in instructional video.By James Montgomery

Lady Gaga

Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ Getty Images

By now, we all know that Lady Gaga has never been afraid to speak her mind, but it turns out Stefani Germanotta isn't either.
That's just one of the things we learned in "Real People — Sexual Harassment: What You Can Do," an educational video produced by the San Francisco-based Cerebellum Corporation that features a young Germanotta — still years away from becoming Gaga — as a student who is harassed ... and isn't about to take it.
Germanotta doesn't have any lines in the video, or at least not in the minute-long version posted on YouTube. But she definitely makes an impact in her brief scene (at the 0:40 mark), in which she walks out of a classroom — resplendent in a long-sleeved white shirt, blue skirt and, uh, clogs — and is grabbed by a male student (we know he's bad because he's got frosted tips) while his buddies cheer him on. But rather than cower away, Germanotta goes off on the dude, telling him his advances are unwelcome while her friend looks on. Oh, and you can tell the creep feels bad about it, since he lowers his head in shame.
It's a pretty compelling scene, right up there with Gaga's 2001 appearance on "The Sopranos" and that time she was on MTV's "Boiling Points." It's not exactly clear when the sexual harassment spot was filmed (though it appears to have been shot around the same time Gaga showed up on "The Sopranos"), but the YouTube clip was uploaded by the Cerebellum Corporation on February 18, 2010, and went largely unnoticed until eagle-eyed Gaga obsessives spotted their Mother Monster in the vid.
MTV News' phone calls to Cerebellum, seeking comment on the video, were not responded to by press time.

Rihanna Says Now-Iconic Haircut Was 'Really Liberating'

Loud singer tells MTV News she wanted to do 'something daring with my hair, something fun, something unexpected.'By Rebecca Thomas

Rihanna

Photo: MTV News

The word "icon" gets tossed around a lot in pop music. So if multiplatinum pop&B star Rihanna is not yet an icon, then she's arguably exhibiting the DNA of an icon-in-the-making, including a trend-shifting haircut that has become one of the most requested styles in salons from Brooklyn to Baltimore. And everyone knows that a look worthy of pop royalty begins with the crown — just ask Madonna.

On Wednesday, MTV News caught up with Rihanna at a New York book signing for her self-titled photography collection, and the "Only Girl (In the World)" singer said it was "exciting" that she'd inspired so many girls to chop their tresses.
"For me, when I cut my hair, it was really, really liberating," Rihanna told us, just weeks before her hotly anticipated LP Loud is due. "And I always like to do something daring with my hair, something fun, something unexpected and something not typical."
At her book event, the 22-year-old was sporting the long, layered, fiery-red locks she's been rocking in recent months. But the 'do that most have come to call "the Rihanna" is a Mohawk-inspired look that gets its flirtiness from the long strands that sweep the eyes. The singer first took shears to her Beyoncé-esque mane with the 2008 release of her Good Girl Gone Bad album, drawing "oohs" for a jet-black bob that broke with R&B tradition.
Since then, she's subjected her version of "the Rihanna" to colors and textures of every variation, from the severe bangs of "Hard" to the Barbados-approved barrel curls of "Rude Boy." And in turn, girls around the country paid homage with cuts of their own. But Rih admitted that convenience also factored into her decision to go short.
"[I wanted] something that, when I wake up in the morning, it kind of leads the day, you know? Kind of tells you what to wear," she said. "When you've got too much options with your hair, it's stressful; it could take two hours to get ready," she laughed.
The editor in chief of Hype Hair, Adrienne Moore, weighed in on the appeal of Rihanna's hairdo, particularly for a generation of girls increasingly wed to weaves and extensions. She highlighted the superstar's willingness to a "take a risk."
"Rihanna gives us a fascinating style that's unexpected, and that unexpected look sets her apart from the rest," Moore told MTV News. "She wasn't afraid to take a risk, from the first project [A Girl Like Me], she released herself from all that long hair."
Moore added that even in abandoning the short style for now in favor of a "voluminous" look, Rihanna has managed to keep her admirers on their toes. "It's almost like she's stepping back with a retro look, a soft look, as opposed to a spiky, edgy look. So she shocked people," Moore said of the star's latest look, describing it as a Marilyn Monroe throwback.

Paris Hilton Accepts Plea Deal

Paris Hilton does it again. E! News reports that the celebutante has accepted a plea deal that includes pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer.
In return, she avoids being charged with felony cocaine possession and gets two consecutive six-month jail sentences suspended. Translation: Paris won't have to spend a night in jail.

"We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future," Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center."
Paris reportedly will enter her plea on Monday. She will be on probation for one year, have to complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2000, and complete 200 hours of community service (brace yourself for those pictures- LOL).
Does this sound fair to you or do you want to see Paris serve some time? Honestly, I think you could stick Paris in jail for five years, and it wouldn't change a thing.

Cheryl Cole sings a song ? straight from someone else's heart

The X Factor judge and the track in which she 'takes her revenge' on AshleyThis week's most overspun showbiz story is Cheryl Cole's "revenge" on Ashley, in which we are encouraged to believe that a track on The X Factor judge's new album is a vicious attack on her former husband ? even though it was written by someone else entirely."Cheryl didn't write the song herself," the Sun explains breathlessly, "but she approved the lyrics."Don't you love that "approved the lyrics"? Clearly, the styling signifies a progression from the "Because we're worth it" catchphrase Cheryl has already made her own ? in fact, it smacks of nothing so much as a US political campaign ad. This column simply will not be happy until every one of madam's public utterances ? from individual X Factor judgments to unchallenging R&B videos ? ends with her facing the camera and dimpling: "Ahm Cheryl Kerl, and ah approve this messudge."CelebrityCheryl ColeThe X FactorTelevisionEntertainmentMarina Hydeguardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2010 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More FeedsMariska Hargitay Oprah Winfrey Beyonce Knowles James Cameron Lady Gaga

Michael Jackson's Nephew Austin Brown Releases First Single

'I can't help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create,' Austin Brown says.By Steven Roberts

Austin Brown

Photo: MTV News

The name Austin Brown may not ring any bells, but he is the youngest son of Rebbie "Centipede" Jackson, and, of course, the nephew of the late Michael Jackson. Brown, a talented and versatile singer, songwriter, producer and dancer, is ready to carry on the Jackson family business for the next generation. But he isn't necessarily looking to live off the family's fame.

"Music is in my heart," Brown said. "It's what I love to do. I can't help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create."
Brown said he grew up listening to everything from Boyz II Men and George Michael to the Beatles. And while such a diverse musical taste isn't uncommon with the iPod generation of today, the singer said he loved to sit around and dissect what makes each artist special. He'd listen and wonder what about the Beatles inspired Brian Wilson's (of the Beach Boys) work, which in turn inspired the Beatles.
Brown also loves to perform, which he said started when his mom first took him onstage. "She was doing a show in Japan and I was about 3," said Brown. "When I first looked up, there was all of these things onstage — gargoyles and all this weird stuff at the club. And I got scared and kind of ran off, but I paused when I ran off. So my mom tried it again the next day, and I danced my heart off after that."
Some 20 years later, Brown has teamed up with super-producer Rodney Jerkins and is set to release his debut album, 85. The title represents what Brown has learned from music throughout his life.
"He had the vision," explained Jerkins. "He said, 'It's going to be called 85.' Why 85? 'Because that was the year I was born and in '85 this artist came out, and the music sounded like this. We've got to be inspired by this.' The whole thing we kept trying to do was create a sound that makes you want to dance and feel good."
The album's first single, "Target Practice," debuted Monday on Brown's website, and the video will follow. Brown said it doesn't look anything short of stunning.
"It was directed by a man by the name of Tom DeSanto, who is the producer of 'Transformers' and 'X-Men,' and it was such a blessing to get him for my first video," he said.
"He's downplaying it for me," Jerkins said. "Your first video and you've got the producer of 'Transformers'? How did you get him from the movie world? Most people go from making music videos to the movie world. He's coming from the movie world to the video world."
What do you think of Brown's new single, "Target Practice"? Tell us in the comments below.

— this week featuring B.o.B, Usher and Ne-Yo — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV
